Fall Break: Day 4

We spent the day out at the Maxwell's house, but before we left, the kids built  (and destroyed) a giant tower :)

If Lucy says it's a good idea to wear winter clothes while watching TV, well then it is. At least in Calvin's world :)

Almost spring

The kids are done with winter and ready for spring!

Snow Day!

It's less than an inch of snow, but we'll take it—it's the most we've seen since we moved here! The kids were thrilled to have the day off, and after a morning outside playing with our neighbors, we're back inside, tummies filled with homemade turkey soup and hot cocoa :)

Miss Lu has been teaching Calvin Jesse how to "scrub scrub"—here they're washing the windows together. It's so dang cute.

Dear Uncle Steven: Every time the kids build a new fort, I think of you. (In other words, I think about you daily :) At least they're happy playing together!

Two peas, same pod

Seeing similarities between Calvin Jesse and Miss Lu tickles me to no end.

For example, the inward tilt of the two middle bottom teeth:

Miss Lu and Calvin Jesse really are becoming friends. He's so excited to see her every day when she comes home after school, and the first thing she does when she comes in the door is run over and heft him off the floor into a squishy hug. 

So the other day, when Miss Lu told me she'd like to play with Calvin, I wasn't surprised. I was, however, a little worried. Here's the transcript:

Miss Lucy: "Hey Mom, can I do something with Calvin? I mean, I don't want to kill him or anything...."

Me: "Um ... yeah. You can play with him. But don't hurt him, ok?"

Miss Lucy: "Yeah, that's what I said!"

My kids make the same faces

It seems that every time I take a picture lately, Calvin Jesse has his tongue out or is biting his lips in this funky way. Looking back, Miss Lucy was doing the same thing when she was his age.
